# SJMBC vs Pre

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SJMBC at none against Pre's 2. SJMBC also leads on ratings volume (15 vs 2). Pre's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 10 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pre sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. SJMBC asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for SJMBC against 5.0 for Pre. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SJMBC has 15 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

SJMBC ships an update every 10 months, Pre every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
