# Dorset Echo vs Zululand Observer

The clearest difference is monetization model: Zululand Observer at free with in-app purchases against Dorset Echo's subscription. Zululand Observer also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dorset Echo sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.49 per month and Zululand Observer sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 3 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Dorset Echo ships an update every 4 months, Zululand Observer every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
