# Smart Shades vs PERMAWARM+

The clearest difference is rating: PERMAWARM+ at 5.0 against Smart Shades's 2.1. PERMAWARM+ also leads on monetization model (free vs paid) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Smart Shades's advantage is ratings volume (65 vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PERMAWARM+ holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smart Shades has 65 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Smart Shades ships an update every 2 months, PERMAWARM+ every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
