# Scan Hero vs Scanner App

The clearest difference is ads: Scanner App at none against Scan Hero's shown. Scanner App also leads on chart position (#3 vs #33). Scan Hero's advantage is review sentiment (66% vs 50%) and ratings volume (242K vs 39K). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scan Hero sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Scanner App sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Scan Hero against 4.6 for Scanner App. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scan Hero has 242K ratings behind it against 39K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 66% of Scan Hero's written reviews are positive against 50% of Scanner App's.

Scan Hero ships an update every 10 days, Scanner App every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 28, 2026.
