# Scan Hero vs PDF Scanner App

The clearest difference is ads: PDF Scanner App at none against Scan Hero's shown. Scan Hero's advantage is ratings volume (242K vs 12) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scan Hero sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and PDF Scanner App sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scan Hero holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scan Hero has 242K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of Scan Hero's written reviews are positive against 67% of PDF Scanner App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scan Hero ships an update every 10 days, PDF Scanner App every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
