# Sphero Edu vs Starpoint CSD

The clearest difference is rating: Sphero Edu at 4.5 against Starpoint CSD's 2.4. Sphero Edu also leads on ratings volume (1.5K vs 14) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months). Starpoint CSD's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (75% vs 65%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Sphero Edu holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sphero Edu has 1.5K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Sphero Edu's written reviews are positive against 75% of Starpoint CSD's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Sphero Edu ships an update every 5 weeks, Starpoint CSD every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
