# Cloud Outliner vs Metanote

The clearest difference is update cadence: Metanote at every 2 weeks against Cloud Outliner's every 6 months. Cloud Outliner's advantage is ratings volume (756 vs 15). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cloud Outliner sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Metanote sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Cloud Outliner holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cloud Outliner has 756 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of Cloud Outliner's written reviews are positive against 73% of Metanote's.

Cloud Outliner ships an update every 6 months, Metanote every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
