# Z vs Modern Forms

The clearest difference is rating: Modern Forms at 4.2 against Z's 2.3. Modern Forms also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (4K vs 17). Z's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Modern Forms holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Modern Forms has 4K ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Z's written reviews are positive against 13% of Modern Forms's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Z ships an update every 4 months, Modern Forms every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
