# Microsoft Translator vs Translator

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Microsoft Translator at none against Translator's 4. Microsoft Translator also leads on ratings volume (158K vs 1.8K) and rating (4.8 vs 4.5). Translator's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 6 weeks) and review sentiment (58% vs 44%). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Translator sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Microsoft Translator asks for nothing beyond the download.

Microsoft Translator holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Translator has 158K ratings behind it against 1.8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Microsoft Translator's written reviews are positive against 58% of Translator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Microsoft Translator ships an update every 6 weeks, Translator every 8 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
