# Microsoft Translator vs ‎Translator

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Microsoft Translator at none against ‎Translator's 10. Microsoft Translator also leads on ratings volume (158K vs 3.5K) and rating (4.8 vs 4.5). ‎Translator's advantage is review sentiment (56% vs 44%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ‎Translator sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Microsoft Translator asks for nothing beyond the download.

Microsoft Translator holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Translator has 158K ratings behind it against 3.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Microsoft Translator's written reviews are positive against 56% of ‎Translator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Microsoft Translator ships an update every 6 weeks, ‎Translator every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
