# Microsoft Translator vs AI Translator

The clearest difference is review sentiment: AI Translator at 100% against Microsoft Translator's 44%. AI Translator also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). Microsoft Translator's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ratings volume (158K vs 31). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AI Translator sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Microsoft Translator asks for nothing beyond the download.

Microsoft Translator holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Translator has 158K ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Microsoft Translator's written reviews are positive against 100% of AI Translator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Microsoft Translator ships an update every 6 weeks, AI Translator every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
