# CampusShield vs Speed Queen

The clearest difference is rating: Speed Queen at 4.8 against CampusShield's 4.3. Speed Queen also leads on ratings volume (23K vs 90) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). CampusShield's advantage is review sentiment (55% vs 41%) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Speed Queen holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Queen has 23K ratings behind it against 90, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of CampusShield's written reviews are positive against 41% of Speed Queen's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

CampusShield ships an update every 2 months, Speed Queen fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
