# AppClose vs PDF Masker

The clearest difference is rating: AppClose at 4.7 against PDF Masker's 2.0. AppClose also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (39K vs 1). PDF Masker's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AppClose sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and PDF Masker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AppClose holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AppClose has 39K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 13% of AppClose's written reviews are positive against 0% of PDF Masker's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
