# Music Together vs The Reading Bug

The clearest difference is update cadence: The Reading Bug at every 3 days against Music Together's monthly. The Reading Bug also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Music Together's advantage is ratings volume (1.9K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Music Together sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and The Reading Bug sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Reading Bug holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Music Together has 1.9K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Music Together ships an update monthly, The Reading Bug every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
