# Flash Sync vs STROBE

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: STROBE at none against Flash Sync's 3. STROBE also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 11 days vs every 5 weeks). Flash Sync's advantage is ratings volume (161 vs 12). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flash Sync sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. STROBE asks for nothing beyond the download.

Flash Sync holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flash Sync has 161 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Flash Sync's written reviews are positive against 60% of STROBE's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Flash Sync ships an update every 5 weeks, STROBE every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
