# WXPL vs The WIDR App

The clearest difference is ads: The WIDR App at none against WXPL's shown. The WIDR App also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 21 months) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for WXPL against 5.0 for The WIDR App. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The WIDR App has 10 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

WXPL ships an update every 21 months, The WIDR App every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
