# Square Appointments vs OrbisX

The clearest difference is monetization model: OrbisX at free against Square Appointments's freemium. OrbisX also leads on review sentiment (93% vs 69%) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.1). Square Appointments's advantage is ratings volume (195K vs 34) and update cadence (every 6 days vs every 4 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Square Appointments holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Square Appointments has 195K ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Square Appointments's written reviews are positive against 93% of OrbisX's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Square Appointments ships an update every 6 days, OrbisX every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
