# Minipad vs AtoZ Dictionary

The clearest difference is ads: Minipad at none against AtoZ Dictionary's shown. Minipad also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (408 vs 39). AtoZ Dictionary's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

AtoZ Dictionary holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Minipad has 408 ratings behind it against 39, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Minipad's written reviews are positive against 73% of AtoZ Dictionary's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Minipad ships an update every 4 months, AtoZ Dictionary every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
