# DerElefant vs MagentaTV

DerElefant and MagentaTV both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 93% of DerElefant's written reviews are positive against 77% of MagentaTV's. MagentaTV's advantage is ratings volume (208 vs 13). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for DerElefant against 4.4 for MagentaTV. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MagentaTV has 208 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 93% of DerElefant's written reviews are positive against 77% of MagentaTV's.

DerElefant ships an update every 3 months, MagentaTV every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
