# Sports Thread vs Sideline

The clearest difference is ads: Sideline at none against Sports Thread's shown. Sideline also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs monthly) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Sports Thread's advantage is ratings volume (2K vs 52). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Sports Thread against 4.7 for Sideline. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sports Thread has 2K ratings behind it against 52, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 88% of Sports Thread's written reviews are positive against 94% of Sideline's.

Sports Thread ships an update monthly, Sideline every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
