# Explore Michigan vs MBA MacPass

The clearest difference is rating: Explore Michigan at 4.7 against MBA MacPass's 4.0. Explore Michigan also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 54 months) and ratings volume (212 vs 4). MBA MacPass's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 75%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Explore Michigan holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Explore Michigan has 212 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Explore Michigan's written reviews are positive against 100% of MBA MacPass's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Explore Michigan ships an update every 2 months, MBA MacPass every 54 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
