# Whale Notes vs YPT

The clearest difference is update cadence: YPT at every 2 days against Whale Notes's every 5 months. YPT also leads on ratings volume (1.8K vs 34). Whale Notes's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Whale Notes sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 3 months and YPT sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Whale Notes against 4.7 for YPT. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: YPT has 1.8K ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of Whale Notes's written reviews are positive against 56% of YPT's.

Whale Notes ships an update every 5 months, YPT every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
