# HUD Widgets vs Speedometer

The clearest difference is rating: Speedometer at 4.5 against HUD Widgets's 3.5. Speedometer also leads on chart position (#198 vs unranked). HUD Widgets's advantage is review sentiment (55% vs 25%). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HUD Widgets sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Speedometer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speedometer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 109 and 58 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of HUD Widgets's written reviews are positive against 25% of Speedometer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
