# Black tiles vs Harmonic Drive

The clearest difference is rating: Harmonic Drive at 5.0 against Black tiles's 4.1. Harmonic Drive also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (weekly vs every 6 months). Black tiles's advantage is ratings volume (9 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.6). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Black tiles sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Harmonic Drive sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Harmonic Drive holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Black tiles has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Black tiles ships an update every 6 months, Harmonic Drive weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
