# BookBub vs Buks

The clearest difference is ads: BookBub at none against Buks's shown. BookBub also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Buks's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 54%) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 26.0). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BookBub holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BookBub has 961 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of BookBub's written reviews are positive against 67% of Buks's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
