# Study Manager vs School Buddy

The clearest difference is rating: School Buddy at 4.4 against Study Manager's 3.4. School Buddy also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 5 weeks) and ratings volume (230 vs 5). Study Manager's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Study Manager sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and School Buddy sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

School Buddy holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: School Buddy has 230 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Study Manager ships an update every 5 weeks, School Buddy every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
