# Asciilizer vs Pixel Art Camera

The clearest difference is rating: Pixel Art Camera at 4.6 against Asciilizer's 3.0. Pixel Art Camera also leads on ratings volume (1.2K vs 4). Asciilizer's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Asciilizer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Pixel Art Camera sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pixel Art Camera holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pixel Art Camera has 1.2K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of Asciilizer's written reviews are positive against 66% of Pixel Art Camera's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
