# R7 vs Record News

The clearest difference is rating: Record News at 5.0 against R7's 3.8. Record News also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.6). R7's advantage is ratings volume (48 vs 2) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Record News holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: R7 has 48 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
