# Messenger Gem Space vs Bastyon

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Bastyon at none against Messenger Gem Space's 3. Bastyon also leads on rating (4.3 vs 3.9). Messenger Gem Space's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (152 vs 29). On price, review sentiment, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Messenger Gem Space sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Bastyon asks for nothing beyond the download.

Bastyon holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Messenger Gem Space has 152 ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Messenger Gem Space's written reviews are positive against 63% of Bastyon's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Messenger Gem Space ships an update weekly, Bastyon every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
