# Lock Notes vs CalcPlus

The clearest difference is monetization model: CalcPlus at free with in-app purchases against Lock Notes's subscription. CalcPlus also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and review sentiment (100% vs 73%). Lock Notes's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lock Notes sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per year and CalcPlus sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CalcPlus holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lock Notes has 1.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 73% of Lock Notes's written reviews are positive against 100% of CalcPlus's.

Lock Notes ships an update every 10 days, CalcPlus fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
