# myESS vs 1Kosmos

The clearest difference is review sentiment: 1Kosmos at 51% against myESS's 12%. 1Kosmos also leads on ratings volume (423 vs 1) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). myESS's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

myESS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 1Kosmos has 423 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 12% of myESS's written reviews are positive against 51% of 1Kosmos's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

myESS ships an update every 4 months, 1Kosmos monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
