# Remote4 vs Scrypted

The clearest difference is rating: Scrypted at 5.0 against Remote4's 3.9. Scrypted also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). Remote4's advantage is review sentiment (61% vs 33%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.1). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Scrypted holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 25 and 16 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of Remote4's written reviews are positive against 33% of Scrypted's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Remote4 ships an update every 3 months, Scrypted every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on September 24, 2026.
