# Compass XXL vs CompassTip

The clearest difference is ads: Compass XXL at none against CompassTip's shown. Compass XXL also leads on iOS requirement (16 vs 18.0). CompassTip's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 62 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Compass XXL sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and CompassTip sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Compass XXL ships an update every 62 months, CompassTip every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
