# Text Crypter vs TOR Browser

The clearest difference is rating: TOR Browser at 4.6 against Text Crypter's 3.7. TOR Browser also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 10 months) and ratings volume (14K vs 3). Text Crypter's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TOR Browser sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Text Crypter asks for nothing beyond the download.

TOR Browser holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TOR Browser has 14K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Text Crypter's written reviews are positive against 54% of TOR Browser's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Text Crypter ships an update every 10 months, TOR Browser every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
