# Discovery GO vs Apple TV

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Apple TV at 1.9M against Discovery GO's 35K. Apple TV also leads on iOS requirement (10.2 vs 14.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Discovery GO against 4.8 for Apple TV. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Apple TV has 1.9M ratings behind it against 35K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 37% of Discovery GO's written reviews are positive against 43% of Apple TV's.

Discovery GO ships an update every 6 weeks, Apple TV every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
