# MotorTrend vs Spot Network

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Spot Network at 80% against MotorTrend's 40%. MotorTrend's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spot Network sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. MotorTrend asks for nothing beyond the download.

MotorTrend holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MotorTrend has 56K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of MotorTrend's written reviews are positive against 80% of Spot Network's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
