# SchoolRoom vs Buchenwald

The clearest difference is rating: Buchenwald at 5.0 against SchoolRoom's 4.4. Buchenwald also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.5). SchoolRoom's advantage is review sentiment (81% vs 50%) and ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SchoolRoom sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Buchenwald asks for nothing beyond the download.

Buchenwald holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SchoolRoom has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of SchoolRoom's written reviews are positive against 50% of Buchenwald's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SchoolRoom ships an update every 2 months, Buchenwald every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
