# Gelato Flicker vs MODBOX

The clearest difference is rating: MODBOX at 4.7 against Gelato Flicker's 3.5. MODBOX also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (408 vs 17). Gelato Flicker's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 12.0). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gelato Flicker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and MODBOX sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MODBOX holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MODBOX has 408 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 69% of Gelato Flicker's written reviews are positive against 76% of MODBOX's.

Gelato Flicker ships an update every 2 months, MODBOX every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
