# Patreon vs Soapbox

Patreon and Soapbox both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Soapbox's written reviews are positive against 41% of Patreon's. Soapbox also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). Patreon's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (579K vs 7). On price, rating, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Soapbox sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Patreon asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Patreon against 5.0 for Soapbox. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Patreon has 579K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 41% of Patreon's written reviews are positive against 100% of Soapbox's.

Patreon ships an update weekly, Soapbox monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
