# Keybase vs Cyph

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Keybase at none against Cyph's 1. Keybase also leads on rating (3.5 vs 3.1) and ratings volume (323 vs 20). Cyph's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.1). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cyph sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $68.99 per month. Keybase asks for nothing beyond the download.

Keybase holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Keybase has 323 ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 42% of Keybase's written reviews are positive against 36% of Cyph's.

Keybase ships an update every 3 months, Cyph every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
