# Nuki Smart Lock vs Home Assistant

Nuki Smart Lock and Home Assistant both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 90% of Nuki Smart Lock's written reviews are positive against 54% of Home Assistant's. Home Assistant's advantage is ratings volume (4K vs 515) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Nuki Smart Lock against 4.7 for Home Assistant. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Home Assistant has 4K ratings behind it against 515, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 90% of Nuki Smart Lock's written reviews are positive against 54% of Home Assistant's.

Nuki Smart Lock ships an update every 3 weeks, Home Assistant every 10 days. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
