# PianoMate vs hool

The clearest difference is rating: PianoMate at 4.5 against hool's 3.3. PianoMate also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (26 vs 3). hool's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and review sentiment (100% vs 65%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PianoMate sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. hool asks for nothing beyond the download.

PianoMate holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PianoMate has 26 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of PianoMate's written reviews are positive against 100% of hool's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PianoMate ships an update weekly, hool every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
