# syllABC vs Smart Directions

The clearest difference is update cadence: Smart Directions at every 4 months against syllABC's every 23 months. Smart Directions also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. syllABC sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Smart Directions sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

syllABC ships an update every 23 months, Smart Directions every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
