# The Simple Camera vs SkyCamera

The clearest difference is update cadence: The Simple Camera at weekly against SkyCamera's every 7 months. The Simple Camera also leads on review sentiment (55% vs 29%) and ratings volume (206 vs 15). SkyCamera's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.5) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Simple Camera sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SkyCamera sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SkyCamera holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Simple Camera has 206 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of The Simple Camera's written reviews are positive against 29% of SkyCamera's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Simple Camera ships an update weekly, SkyCamera every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
