# Nanoleaf vs SwitchBot

The clearest difference is rating: Nanoleaf at 4.2 against SwitchBot's 3.4. Nanoleaf also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 20) and ratings volume (45K vs 838). SwitchBot's advantage is review sentiment (32% vs 17%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SwitchBot sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Nanoleaf asks for nothing beyond the download.

Nanoleaf holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Nanoleaf has 45K ratings behind it against 838, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of Nanoleaf's written reviews are positive against 32% of SwitchBot's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Nanoleaf ships an update every 2 weeks, SwitchBot fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
