# UAV Forecast vs Windsock

The clearest difference is monetization model: UAV Forecast at free with in-app purchases against Windsock's subscription. UAV Forecast also leads on review sentiment (33% vs 0%) and update cadence (every 6 days vs every 14 months). Windsock's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. UAV Forecast sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Windsock sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Windsock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: UAV Forecast has 3.5K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of UAV Forecast's written reviews are positive against 0% of Windsock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UAV Forecast ships an update every 6 days, Windsock every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
