# Vorail (Legacy) vs Mastodon The clearest difference is rating: Mastodon at 4.5 against Vorail (Legacy)'s 3.2. Mastodon also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 5) and ratings volume (13K vs 89). Vorail (Legacy)'s advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 48%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them. Both are free to download. Vorail (Legacy) sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Mastodon asks for nothing beyond the download. Mastodon holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mastodon has 13K ratings behind it against 89, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Vorail (Legacy)'s written reviews are positive against 48% of Mastodon's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about. Vorail (Legacy) ships an update every 6 weeks, Mastodon monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively. ## The numbers | Metric | Vorail (Legacy) | Mastodon | | --- | --- | --- | | Price | Free | Free | | Rating | [3.2 (89 ratings)](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/vorail-legacy/id1050527832/reviews) | **[4.5 (13K ratings)](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/mastodon/id1571998974/reviews)** | | Number of ratings | 89 | **13K** | | Positive reviews | **62.6% of reviews** | 48.3% of reviews | | In-app purchases | Yes | **No** | | Ads | No | No | | Update frequency | Every 6 weeks | **Monthly** | | Monetization | Subscription | **Free** | | Size | 10 MB | 110 MB | | Requires iOS | **15.0** | 18.6 | | Devices | **iPhone, iPad, iPod** | iPhone, iPad | | Age rating | 17+ | 17+ | | Developer | [Vorail, Inc](https://appshunter.io/developer/475998431) | [Mastodon GmbH](https://appshunter.io/developer/1571998976) | ## What reviewers say ### Vorail (Legacy) [App page](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/vorail-legacy/id1050527832) Connect with others through voice-based conversations, focusing on what people say rather than how they look.
