# Animatic vs Screen Recording ™

The clearest difference is monetization model: Screen Recording ™ at free with in-app purchases against Animatic's subscription. Screen Recording ™ also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.6) and review sentiment (75% vs 63%). Animatic's advantage is ratings volume (824 vs 67). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Animatic sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Screen Recording ™ sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Screen Recording ™ holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Animatic has 824 ratings behind it against 67, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 63% of Animatic's written reviews are positive against 75% of Screen Recording ™'s.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
