# VPN Secure Proxy vs VPN Private

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: VPN Private at none against VPN Secure Proxy's 10. VPN Private also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14.0). VPN Secure Proxy's advantage is ratings volume (43K vs 356). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN Secure Proxy sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. VPN Private asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for VPN Secure Proxy against 4.6 for VPN Private. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Secure Proxy has 43K ratings behind it against 356, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 71% of VPN Secure Proxy's written reviews are positive against 68% of VPN Private's.

VPN Secure Proxy ships an update every 6 weeks, VPN Private fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
