# VPN Secure Proxy vs Online Shield

The clearest difference is monetization model: VPN Secure Proxy at free with in-app purchases against Online Shield's subscription. VPN Secure Proxy also leads on review sentiment (71% vs 55%) and ratings volume (43K vs 8K). Online Shield's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN Secure Proxy sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Online Shield sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for VPN Secure Proxy against 4.5 for Online Shield. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Secure Proxy has 43K ratings behind it against 8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 71% of VPN Secure Proxy's written reviews are positive against 55% of Online Shield's.

VPN Secure Proxy ships an update every 6 weeks, Online Shield fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
